You must do the following:
Under Network connections:
For each LAN connection that is to have a static IP:
TCP/IP Properties
Specify:
LAN IP
MASK
GATEWAY
DNS Servers (You need at least one)
Under Advanced,
DNS Tab:
Specify the search suffix
WINS Tab:
Add and specify a WINS server
Select the DEFAULT Netbios Setting
